Final multiplier event in Slovakia

The last multiplier event of the Hi-Smart project took place as a combined event on 29.6.2022 and then on 12.7. and 13.7.2022.

The first day was organized jointly with the Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers (SKSI) as a hybrid event for civil engineering professionals, chartered engineers and those awaiting authorization. The event was webcast, with some of the audience from outside Bratislava connected via computer and some attended it on-site at the SKSI headquarters. The event consisted of a lecture part, discussion and consultation on specific problems in modelling and simulation of the building performance in terms of energy efficiency and indoor comfort quality. These issues were also covered in the main presentations, which were developed within the Hi-Smart project under the Module 7 – Building performance simulation. These main presentations were:

  • Basics of Working with Design-Builder – Model Creation (author: Ing. Jakub Čurpek, PhD, Faculty of Civil Engineering of STU in Bratislava)
  • Basic Simulations (Building Thermal Technology / Day-Lighting) (authors: Ing. Jakub Čurpek, PhD / Ing. Peter Hanuliak, PhD, Faculty of Civil Engineering of STU in Bratislava)

The second part of the multiplier event took place in the framework of the Summer School for Ukrainian students and academics*, which took place in the Kočovce Manor (educational center of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of STU) from 11 July to 15 July 2022. The presentations themselves, based on the Hi-Smart project and in particular on modules 6 and 7, also including basic information about the Hi-Smart project, took place on 13.7.2022. The main presentations were:

  • The Erasmus Program of the European Union and the Hi-Smart Project (authors: Ing. Michaela Anna  Jurkovičová / Dr. techn. Ing. arch. Roman Rabenseifer, STU in Bratislava)
  • Building Standards and Certification of Sustainable Construction in Slovakia (author: Ing. Jakub Čurpek, PhD, Faculty of Civil Engineering of STU in Bratislava)
  • Basic Simulations (Building Thermal Technology / Day-Lighting) (authors: Ing. Jakub Čurpek, PhD / Ing. Peter Hanuliak, PhD, Faculty of Civil Engineering of STU in Bratislava)

On Tuesday, 12.7.2022, an excursion focused on sustainable renovation of the existing building substance (medieval patrician houses in Trenčín with a new function, Beckov castle) took place.

*Note: The Summer School was organised for Ukrainian students, who applied for admission for studies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, and/or Faculty of Architecture and Design and who possess the refugee status at the same time, and it was also attended by academics from Ukrainian partner Institutions possessing the refugee status.
